What, no portraits?! My 11 on the 11th

I am always so happy to be part of this wonderful group that organizes the 11 on the 11th blog circle. When you’ve had a look though this post continue on to the SO talented Alison Janki of Alison Janki Photography.

A bit of a departure from the norm for me this month. At the beginning of September I spent 10 days in New York editing images from the New York Fashion Week shows for my brother-in-law Gerry Hanan.  After editing literally thousands of images I felt like taking a little break from images of people and for the past month have really enjoyed taking pictures of places and things. Photographing outside your chosen genre can really help to appreciate things other than eye contact and capturing emotion and instead see things in terms of solely light and composition. I’m not saying that I’m an expert at either but I have enjoyed my little foray into a different art form. All of these images are unedited other than brief colour adjustments in ACR and running my Colour Film Green action on them.

After coming back from New York we had a spell of REAAAALLY wet weather here in Ireland. That dark, foggy, grey utterly miserable weather that can wear you down. Once the weather cleared and the light started shining through blinds, making patterns and shapes on curtains and bed covers I dived for my camera. And I didn’t forget my selfie either, even if I am hiding behind my glasses 🙂white

Don’t forget to continue the circle by heading over to Alison Janki of Alison Janki Photography! You’ll be so happy you did 🙂

You captured New York so well Lynn. They could all be postcards. And not to rub it in, but I DO NOT miss those miserable, grey, wet Irish days you speak of. Ohhhhhh, no I don’t 😉
And you are too cute, glasses and all. x

Wow!!! Every capture is perfection. The stack of purses in the midst of the skyscrapers is storytelling perfection!
