Toning down neon grass

Did you ever edit a picture and then nearly have your eyes permently burned from the the neon shade of sunlit grass? Here’s a way to tone done the grass without affecting the whole picture.

To start here’s my sooc…

After some RAW adjustments in ACR…

After adding my Contrast and colour boost action you can see how the greens are way too yellow

And here the final picture after running the Toning down neon grass action, Lemon sky action and Vignette action

The way the Tone down neon grass action works is by making an adjustment layer that desaturates the colour a little and adds some reds. The action is part of my set but you can make the action yourself by making a Hue/Saturation layer

and lowering the saturation and changing the Hue to -9. You can mess around with these values to suit your picture.

Once you have done that click on your mask and start painting over the greenest areas of your picture with a black paintbrush set to 100% opacity.
