Light and Shadows-Silhouettes

This month’s blog circle came around again so quickly for me. Once you’ve finished here make sure you head on over to Laura Morita’s post. Holy Moly, she really has a superb bunch of images this month that you do NOT want to miss!

The theme this month is silhouettes. As soon as I heard the theme I knew what I wanted to do. I had seen all these beautiful double exposure images on social media and had to try to for myself but in Photoshop rather than with film. It’s a simple thing to do really. Just take an image, silhouette works best, drag a new image over the top on a new layer in Photoshop and then set layer mode of the top layer to Screen. I got my husband and children to stand in front of a window and over exposed quite a bit to get a nice white background and then chose images to overlay that suited their personalities.

First up, my teenage daughter. I chose water for her because ever since she was tiny she’s always been so comfortable in the water. She’s an incredible swimmer and will leave me choking over her bubbles in any race we have. And I’m a qualified lifeguard! Once your child can comfortably beat you physically in a sport you think you’re pretty good at something shifts in your role as a parent. emma Next up is my 11 year old. His love of books, reading and finding out about just about anything he can in pages of text made his overlay image an easy one to choose.mattFinally, my husband. If he could choose a different career outside his one of graphic design he would choose forestry which is why I chose trees for him. He’s very much an outdoor person, hates to be indoors for too long and is a keen cyclist and runner and hiker. He also loves his online anonymity which is why I haven’t shown too much of his face πŸ™‚mickThat’s it from me but continue the blog circle by heading over toΒ  Laura Morita’s page!
